Thinking fast doesn’t solve problems
Good solutions take time
Have you ever found yourself trying to find a quick fix to get rid of a problem right away?
Maybe. I know how it is…
It turns out that our brain is programmed to get rid of anything that consumes our energy as soon as possible.
And to make matters worse, the solution we find is not always good, or even reasonable.
Don’t solve problems by trying to run away from them, solve problems by facing them head on.
Let’s take a look a little bit at how anxiety and racing thinking play into our daily work.
The anxiety that lives in me
I’m an anxious person. I deal with anxiety every day. It's an unwanted companion in my life. And one of the things I’ve noticed is how it influences my thoughts and my choices.
Also, I’ve noticed that when I take a breath before trying to solve a problem, I can see the wider world. A huge space where I can grope for an idea or concept that will help me arrive at a good solution.
